In June 2024, the National Economic and Financial Committee (CNEF) organized the first Scientific Days on the Digital Economy in Yaoundé. The discussions revealed a major challenge: despite progress, Cameroon’s financial sector remains only modestly digitized. Experts highlighted the lack of funding structures for innovation, the financing difficulties faced by fintech startups, and the population’s limited adoption of digital financial tools.
To address these challenges, and under the leadership of the Minister of Finance, the CNEF launched Fintech237, an annual fair dedicated to promoting innovation and inclusion in the digital financial services ecosystem. The initiative aims to empower entrepreneurs, strengthen human capital, and build trust in Cameroon’s digital economy.
The 2025 edition will bring together regulators, banks, mobile operators, startups, investors, and development partners. Through conferences, a hackathon, and a startup pitch competition, Fintech237 will be the stage where technology, finance, and innovation converge to shape the future of financial services in Central Africa.
For a more efficient digital finance.
